Gandhi and his ‘Spiritual Wife’

Well I read this piece of article in The Tribune, dated Saturday, June 2, 2007 (Saturday Extra supplement).

The article goes something like this :

…There was a woman in Mahatma Gandhi’s life with whom he had contemplated ‘spiritual’ marriage. Rajmohan Gandhi’s recent book on the Mahatma more than hinted at this alliance. V.N. Datta, a historian who has been researching this relationship, talks to The Tribune and attempts to reconstruct the strong bond between Gandhi and Saraladevi, a niece of Rabindranath Tagore

Who was Saraladevi Chowdharani and how did she impact the life of one of India’s greatest sons, Mahatma Gandhi? She stares poignantly out of the early 20th century black and white pictures, clad in rich silk sarees and her black hair flowing loose…

Manmohan Singh invites hotties home!

Now here’s a hilarious piece of news… Security Breach at the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s Residence.

Yes, two hotties along with a gay looking bloke entered the Prime Minister’s residence, 7 RCR (Race Course Road). They drove up to the main gate in a black Sonata which bore the registration number “DL4C V 0006“. The security personnel outside the main gate let the three in without checking anything!! Maybe they were intimidated by the three zeroes in the registration number :P !

I mean, its totally cool. The girl drove the car to the area where the VIP’s get down from their cars (I think) - the second gate. Thats where the security people refused to let them in. Even then, no one stopped them. A very hot looking chick got down from the back, took out her cellphone & made a call (in short, posed for the cameras). They reversed the car and while driving at a speed of about say 5 kmph, the girl on the driver’s seat blew flying kisses at the cameras!! Awesome!! A totally “vellah” reporter, Rahul Srivastav of NDTV actually followed the car and interviewed the driver. She was not hesistant and coolly gave the interview. The three are from Jaipur and had come to Delhi to spend their holiday. The hotties are working with Sahara Airlines as Air Hostess’.

Now the police are looking into the matter. What man… they were just a bunch of drunk kids… let them go… question the security personnel instead.

They just “jokingly” went inside cause they wanted to “meet the PM and discuss something”. OK… even I wanna meet the Governor. Any hotties ready to accompany me ?? But wait… I’m just allowed to drive a Maruti 800… what the fuck… I have no chance of getting my 15 seconds of fame :( !

Maybe this was supposed to be a secret meeting between the PM and the hotties but the media ruined the party. Man… the PM sure is lucky… hot girls come to meet him and that too at night. Lage raho Manu Bhai!!!

Update : The NDTV correspondent has interviewed both the girls. The names are : Yogita (the driver), Veena (the poser) and Imran (the gay). Veena is definitely the hotter of the two and all three of them were drunk. Yogita was blowing kisses and waving like a freak, Veena didn’t know her cleavage was there for all to see on national television and Imran… well Imran knew nothing. He was dazed and didn’t know what was happening. Veena admitted on camera that it was just a silly prank and was inquiring from the reporter if it was serious and would they be sent to jail for this act. The security breach happened around 8.45 PM. The PMO (Prime Minister’s Office) says that this is not a security breach. People are allowed to go upto the reception. The journalists and other so-called experts don’t agree though.

The Lost Values

Have we lost our basic values? Well they’re not even moral values but basic manners.

I went to my friends house the other day and I was shocked to learn that the guy does not even posses the basic manners. His housemaid forgot to bring me a glass of water I had asked her to. The guy went crazy and started shouting at her. He abused her and threatened to fire her. I was stunned for a moment. Who the hell talks like that? I agree she’s the “servant” of the house but it does not give my friend the right to shout at her. She is his mother’s age. He calls her by her name. It not only shows that the person has no respect for elders but also reflects badly on his family and puts a question mark on his upbringing.

From the start, I was given strict orders by my father to address the domestic helpers in a respectful manner. I was forbidden to talk rudely to them or even shout at them. My father said that he emplyed them and small kids like myself had no right to disrespect or order the servants who were all elder to me. I have always addressed them as XXX Ji, YYY aunty etc. but never called them by their name. It looks cheap…

Now when I look at people my age, shouting at their servants and threatening to fire them, I just feel like giving them a piece of my mind.

Its strange. When they don’t like talking rudely to their own parents or somebody abusing or threatening them, why the hell do they speak in such a derogatory manner with the domestic help??

Lack of manners or of basic moral values?? Beats me!

What to do?

There is a teacher in my mother’s school—somewhere around 28 years in age, a science Post-graduate, very soft-spoken, responsible, pretty, tall and almost with all things desirable for being a good person, daughter, wife, daughter-in-law et al. But still hell shadows her. The story or rather the reality of her life is that the 1st night of her marriage, she was told by her husband that he loves someone else and he only married her for the sake of his parents. He’d have no relationship with her—physical or emotional. This situation didn’t change for 6 months. It was then, when amidst the neglect of her husband, tantrums of in-laws, almost imprisonment in a separate city—unknown to her, she decided to come to her father’s home here in Chd. . it has been more than 1 and a half year of her staying like this and she has now got a court-summon from her so-called husband asking for a divorce. She has decided to fight the case but to fight these kinda cases is not easy, with those ever-being-postponed court dates, humiliation of the girl and the end result of her devastation. This might sound like another story of a soap opera but no! it isn’t.

Her life is disturbed, she almost seems to be a blot on her parents (w/o her fault) and worst of all-has a bloody long life to go. What if she loses the case, no one really marries a divorcee of middle-class status. What if she wins the case, still the situation is not gonna change. There is no point in going and living with her husband again if she wins b’coz he is not gonna change.

What should she do?

The Bayer Scandal

I don’t know how old or new this scandal is. I just happened to read about it on Sushubh’s blog.

An American drug company, Bayer, dumped medicine infected with the HIV/AIDS virus in Spain, Japanand Asian countries because they wanted to make a profit after the US govt. directed them to remove the infected drug from the US market. The surprising thing is that the US govt. knew about the dumping thing.

The world is crazy!!

More info:

Seems the big companies can easily pay off bad publicity because this news never broke out again.

Reverse Discrimination

Here’s an interesting piece of news.

Brahmins in Uttar Pradesh have been denied the job of sweepers because they belong to a very “high caste”. About 1/4th of the candidates were rejected because their caste was highfor the job of a sweeper.

Now will the govt. reserve jobs for people belonging to the upper castes who want to do menial jobs?

Mr. Arjun Singh, I’m waiting for you to answer this question.

I abuse… am I cool?!

DISCLAIMER:
I’m not censoring anything. Don’t like foul language, don’t read.
This article makes no sense at all. Don’t think much after reading it.

On my recent visit to Delhi, I found out that my cousin in Class 6th abuses too. He uses foul language. Not just the plain and simple “kutta, kamina, ullu” but the bigger & meaner words like “bhainchod, madderchod”. I was quite surprised. Now all of us are hyprocrites. We abuse but we deny. I abuse. So do you. Who doesn’t? But what I see today is that abusing has become a sort of fad among youngsters. I am part of that movement too.

You see, its “uncool” to be polite.
The above statement applies especially to males. Abusing means that you’re macho. It means you’re not a sissy. YOU’RE A MAN!! On the other hand, the guys who don’t abuse have to sometimes face humiliation. I know for a fact that not abusing doesn’t mean that you’re not a man. For example, look at my dear friend Abhit Jhanji. He doesn’t abuse. Yes he doesn’t. Strange, isn’t it? But he’s a “man”. He’s not gay or a sissy or a wimp. He’s a raging heterosexual. On the other hand, look at Arjun Sheoran. The guy is a gem of a person but he can’t stop abusing. Now Arjun’s gonna be mad but dude you abuse!!! And it ain’t a sin. I abuse too.

Everywhere you go, you can spot boys hurling abuses at each other - “Oye saale BC, haraamzade teri maa ki…”. Its a bit rude but don’t we all abuse?? Why make funny faces on hearing such language?

The girls have hopped onto the “abuse” wagon. They don’t shy from using foul language. They think that if they abuse in English, they automatically become hip as well as polite. So you won’t spot many girls shouting “Bhainchod, Machod etc.” but you can definitely find them yelling “Fuck you, motherfucker, screw you, dickhead” at the top of their voices. Strange.

I started abusing profusely from 9th. I somewhat stopped in 11th. I realised that it wasn’t uncool to be polite. I abuse now and then but its different from the situation in class 9th when I used to attach an abuse with every sentence.

So if you think abusing is uncool, then don’t use foul language. Don’t give into peer pressure. Stay the way you are. But if you like abusing, then don’t restrict yourself to a few English words. Abuse freely!! Its not a question of being hip or cool. Its about expressing yourself freely, in your own “special” way ;) !!

Wake Up!

This was on the front page of The Tribune today.
WAKE UP!

Lets wake up. Let us fight for our rights. Let us all join the medical students. Now its not just about the reservations! Stand up for what is right. The govt. needs to be taught a lesson.

They can’t stop the rioters in Gujrat. The policemen themselves rape young girls. Criminals like Manu Sharma roam about freely. The police only acts (lathicharges) when there are peaceful protests. FUCK YOU! Plain and simple!!

Callous Cops

I’m starting the Reservation debate again.

I see images of the Police lathi charging the doctors and it fills me with anger instantly. What have the students done to deserve a beating? They just sit there quietly shouting slogans or sitting on a dharna.

The same thing happened in Gurgaon last year when the police behaved in a brutal manner with the workers of Honda. They are doing the same again.

These children are educated citizens. They are not indulging in vandalism. Unlike vagabonds, they are peacefully asking for the fulfillment of their demands. But it seems that the police and the government just do what they think is right. Peaceful protesters are greeted with teargas and sticks. The students can’t and don’t even retaliate.

The police is behaving in a very uncivilized manner. I seriously wish Arjun Singh dies.
I’m eighteen, entitled to vote. Rest assured, the Congress aint getting my vote.

More students, not just the medicos, should come forward and join the strike. The government won’t listen until they are given a kick up their rear. Till now, the strikes have been peaceful. But if it continues this way, it won’t take long for the students to take up arms and battle it out with the police. Bloody brutes!!
