I want to be… [ June 15th, 2007 ] Posted in » Feelings / Emotions

Ever since we’re kids, we have a blurred and hazy picture of what we want to be, or do, when we grow up. And I’m not talking just about college, careers, etc. I’m talking about ‘we’ as people. I always thought that with my upbringing I’d be this prim and proper girl who always has to please her parents and can do no wrong. The good kid who gets good marks and stays away from the wild crowd. A doctor maybe…to ‘help people who are suffering’. Good grades, good college, good friends..selfless and sacrificing life, with my ‘perfect love’ besides me who is moulded for me and we all will just live happily ever after..

Well that turned out to be utter bullshit. Yes, perceptions do change as you grow up…your morals change, values change, outlook changes..but to such an extent? Things which you were so staunchly against, things which were against your principles, things which you resolved never to do in your lifetime, become so mundane and ordinary. I thought people who take drugs are ‘bad people’ and now some of my best friends smoke up all the time. I thought coming first in class was the be all and end all of my existence…and now…well, I would not like to comment on my scores.. Lol. I’m not questioning myself. Neither am I wondering what went wrong with me…I don’t think anything did. I guess this is just part of growing up. I was just looking into some old slam books today, and I saw what I used to be like..even 1 year ago! College sure does change people.

I wanted to be and do so many things as a kid. I wanted the world at my feet. I was to be pious, religious and a good kid. I just kept wanting, dreaming, hoping….but things have turned out so differently. At the end of the day, all I can say is, I’m so happy I am what I am right now, it’s hard to imagine. Atleast I am me and not what everyone wanted me to be, or a stupid idealistic picture I painted of myself in my head.. I love the paths I have chosen, the paths I have been forced to choose (due to lack of choice :D ), and the way ahead. It’s ok if you’re not what you always wanted to be, as a person, or as in a profession, or anything. At the end of the day…whatever makes you happy.

Oh, and by the way, Rahul change my blog please. It’s not the old one, it’s now www.ataxia.wordpress.com

Thanks. :)

Manmohan Singh invites hotties home!

Now here’s a hilarious piece of news… Security Breach at the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s Residence.

Yes, two hotties along with a gay looking bloke entered the Prime Minister’s residence, 7 RCR (Race Course Road). They drove up to the main gate in a black Sonata which bore the registration number “DL4C V 0006“. The security personnel outside the main gate let the three in without checking anything!! Maybe they were intimidated by the three zeroes in the registration number :P !

I mean, its totally cool. The girl drove the car to the area where the VIP’s get down from their cars (I think) - the second gate. Thats where the security people refused to let them in. Even then, no one stopped them. A very hot looking chick got down from the back, took out her cellphone & made a call (in short, posed for the cameras). They reversed the car and while driving at a speed of about say 5 kmph, the girl on the driver’s seat blew flying kisses at the cameras!! Awesome!! A totally “vellah” reporter, Rahul Srivastav of NDTV actually followed the car and interviewed the driver. She was not hesistant and coolly gave the interview. The three are from Jaipur and had come to Delhi to spend their holiday. The hotties are working with Sahara Airlines as Air Hostess’.

Now the police are looking into the matter. What man… they were just a bunch of drunk kids… let them go… question the security personnel instead.

They just “jokingly” went inside cause they wanted to “meet the PM and discuss something”. OK… even I wanna meet the Governor. Any hotties ready to accompany me ?? But wait… I’m just allowed to drive a Maruti 800… what the fuck… I have no chance of getting my 15 seconds of fame :( !

Maybe this was supposed to be a secret meeting between the PM and the hotties but the media ruined the party. Man… the PM sure is lucky… hot girls come to meet him and that too at night. Lage raho Manu Bhai!!!

Update : The NDTV correspondent has interviewed both the girls. The names are : Yogita (the driver), Veena (the poser) and Imran (the gay). Veena is definitely the hotter of the two and all three of them were drunk. Yogita was blowing kisses and waving like a freak, Veena didn’t know her cleavage was there for all to see on national television and Imran… well Imran knew nothing. He was dazed and didn’t know what was happening. Veena admitted on camera that it was just a silly prank and was inquiring from the reporter if it was serious and would they be sent to jail for this act. The security breach happened around 8.45 PM. The PMO (Prime Minister’s Office) says that this is not a security breach. People are allowed to go upto the reception. The journalists and other so-called experts don’t agree though.

Theme Change

You must’ve noticed that I have been frequently changing the theme of this blog. This is because of some compatibility issues. Some replies to the articles were being posted in different articles. I have changed the theme & checked for errors. But if you find any errors, do not hesistate and bring them to my notice through the comment form at the bottom ;).

UPDATE 1 :
The lastest comment by Jaskiran on this entry got posetd in the first post. Another error.

Installed WP again. Went through a lot of pain in the process because WP kept giving errors and the blog was down all the time. I am not changing the theme as of now. Please report any errors.

I am keeping my fingers crossed!

UPDATE 2 :
I couldn’t control myself so I changed the theme. Reply here or just anywhere to submit a bug report.

UPDATE 3 :
The theme change didn’t work. I’m sticking with the default theme. Learn to live with it, it ain’t that bad!!

Harry’s guide to college!

So you’ve worked up your way through the dingy high school classrooms and sweat through the three hours non-stop board examinations torture to finally make it to college. After another month of results, manipulations, responses, greetings and arguments you’ve worked hard to get into a college. Running after admission forms, sitting and waiting endlessly for counselling sessions, gulping litres of cola in the hot Indian summer but finally it’s a time to relax. You’ve made it to college and you think the tension phase of your life is over. Well, that’s not true!

You might have made it to college because your dad had connections, you had spare money in the backyard, there weren’t much applicants for the course you applied for, nobody else turned up for counselling or may be on the sole base of merit! Whatever be the reason, it’s a past now. Nobody’s going to care how charming, cute and intelligent you were in your growing years in the high school. There are better things people would ask and want to know from you. So here’s Harry’s ultimate Guide to College for you. Keep it safe, read it in the loo or distribute copies to friends I don’t care. Follow the rules and live in peace.

++ Ragging: Till now you’ve seen it only in the bollywood flicks or heard about it from your dear cousins. It’s time to face the music. Ragging in Indian colleges isn’t the same as it used to be with the Government imposing strict bans and making it a punishable offence. But that doesn’t make your seniors a chicken. So be a sport, go ahead and sing or dance to enjoy a little. If it gets raw, the meat needs to be cooked up! My advice, don’t get rude with the seniors straight away. Some of them would eventually be kind and friendly to you. There would still be some naughty kids around, don’t spare them at all!

++ Boyfriends/Girlfriends: First things first. High school is over. Get over the dream, move up! College will be the time when you’ll be exposed to a wide variety from the opposite sex and the old high school crush can wait or if you’ve been thrown into a non co-ed college, God help you! Remember it’s your first week. First month. Don’t be an early Romeo or a Juliet. Make your image, make your mark and wait. You’re in college now so interaction with the opposite sex will surely ignite someone’s interest in you sometime or the other. In case you’re one of my kind who are not interested in any one at college then admire the library.

++ Classrooms: These are small rooms with some uncomfortable tables and chairs packed with fans rotating at their own merry will and a black board in the front where everyone is supposed to look at for the entire fifty minutes. The best way to concentrate is to imagine the black board as the silver screen. Imagine you’re watching your favourite movie. Or you could imagine your professor dressed up as King Kong and simply beating his chest and shouting for no valid reason. You won’t have to worry much about these are these would be the rooms you’ll hardly visit over the next couple of years.

++ Labs: These are smelly rooms created to impart some practical knowledge into our innocent minds. The only things I learnt in labs was to blow up test tubes and shiny beakers with a cocktail of acids! There’s nothing much you can do in these surroundings, so bunk it off!

++ Canteens/Cafeteria: Your professor might complain of your attendance falling short of the minimum amount but the canteen waiter won’t! Here’s the heaven where you’ll not only feed your hungry tummy but also dare stares at the hunks and the hotties! A prefect place gup-shup over a spicy smosa and cola. And if cupid has already struck then this might be the very shrine where you’ll get to worship you mate!

++ Entry/Exit points: Mark my words, this would be the most important thing to learn in college. You must be aware of all the entry and exit points at college. Why? You’ll answer this to yourself pretty soon!

Finally, just chill! Enjoy yourself but don’t go too easy. Make sure you do keep up with the studies while still enjoying college.

Defeating the block

I think most of you know about the Indian Govt.’s blog block. Blogspot, Typepad and Geocities have been totally blocked.

Even I have been affected because the original Uthfull is hosted on Geocities. OK… I don’t visit or update that site anymore but still I don’t want it to be blocked because of the Indian Govt.’s foolishness.

I could write a lot about this ban but why should I when everything is already here and here. Alternatively, you can use goo gle to get more information.

I have a few other tricks for people to browse the web somewhat anonymously and browse banned sites.
You see, most of the internet http proxies use a software called CGIProxy. Now keeping in mind some things typical of that program, we can use google to find hundreds of free http proxies to access the banned sites and the web anonymously.

Here are the direct links to the search results :

  • Search Results 1
  • Search Results 2
  • Search Results 3
  • Now I used to visit one of the banned sites ( http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/ ) which I think is down. Here’s the Google Cache. If I remember correctly, this site used to show videos of people being beheaded in Iraq by millitants (yup, that’s how I discovered it).

Some sites say the ban will be lifted in another 48 hours but who cares.

If you want to just access your own blog hosted on blogger, use this site.

I was about to setup a http proxy of my own but then I discovered this trick.
    Enjoy!!

the roger federer story continues……

With 6-0, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3 Roger Federer etched his name in the history of the wimbledon tournament. His opponent rafael nadal, the young spaniard was unable to redo the clay magic. Federer came in smashing with the first set and nadal resisted the dominance but still lost the second set. it was in the third set, when nadal came back and it seemed that the finals was not over as yet. it looked as if nadal’s aggression had finally overwhelmed the world no. 1, but federer did not succumb to nadal’s high octane moves and subsequently went on to win the fourth set, achieving his eight grand slams in just 27 majors.
the extraordinary sense of rivalry has created a lot of interest in contemporary tennis and perhaps it is this very rivalry that has made the both of them strieve for a better result everytime. though roger walks off with the golden trophy in his hands for the fourth consecutive time, rafael nadal has proved to be the champion in every sense. he has proved to his critics that there is more to him than just clay and that whether he plays on clay in paris or in the grassy courts of wimbledon he will always put up sterling efforts to win the game.

the contrasting styles of the players led to the clash of the swiss experience and the spanish aggression but this time the 24 year old swiss continues his romance with wimbledon….

Is love for real?

Is it really a sacred word with a much deeper meaning of trust, feeling, emotion and passion? Or is it just a farce? Some people use it just for the heck of it, coz their girlfriends/boyfriends said it and it’s “polite” to reciprocate.. But I’m not talking about those people in this post at all so clear your mind of that notion please.. I’m talking about people who say it and think they mean it, but don’t really know for sure.. Do we really know what love is? Oh, there have been countless songs written about how it feels to be in love, but have you ever felt all that? Isn’t love nothing but a crush? A powerfull obsession/infatuation? Hah! Love at first sight! Without knowing a guy’s name, behavior, character, personality etc, how can someone fall in love? It takes months to fall in love, and maybe even years.. And even then we’re never sure. How many relationships end with ‘I thought I was in love with him but I was too young. I don’t know what love is.’ But does anyone trully know?
I’m looking for suggesions, I feel I’m in love with Vishesh, but quite honestly, even if I wasn’t, I wouldn’t really know. Coz I don’t know if what I’m feeling can be called love. What do you think love is? Do you even believe in it? People say, if you like every li’l thing about a person, it’s love. But no1s perfect. I think it’s impossible to like everything about one person. There have to be somethings you don’t like.. Otherwise it’s said, if you can see yourself growing old with that person, you’re in love. But marriages end too. So, does love come and then go away? Or is it just an illusion? I’m confused… What is love?

Microsoft Xbox 360 vs. Sony PlayStation 3 vs. Nintendo Wii

It’s almost time. Oh yes, it’s almost time. The Xbox 360 has been available for over six months, and soon the next generation console wars will reach critical mass. This November, Sony will release the PlayStation 3 to the world, while reports indicate that Nintendo could release the Wii a month or two ahead of the PlayStation 3. No matter when Sony and Nintendo get their next generation consoles to market, this holiday season will mark the official beginning of the next generation console wars.

Over the course of the last two console generations, Sony has made it clear that they own the gaming industry. The company came out of the gate with the original PlayStation and dominated Nintendo and Sega, then it overwhelmed Microsoft and Nintendo with the PlayStation 2. But several important facts have been revealed about the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii that could make the battle much closer this time around. In addition, Microsoft will have a one year head start with a strong market hold in the US and Europe. The next two or three years should be very interesting, but for now let’s look at how the battle this holiday season is shaping up.

So which one would you choose ???

hope…….

well what i am gonna write is nothing original but part of very common knowledge. and it is actually the continuation of jaskiran’s post. the following is nothing but the story of pandoras box as i know it….

pandora was the first women created by god. she lived with her husband. they were enjoying their life as no evil thing had touched them. there was actually no evil at that time. all mankind was extremely happy. someone of the many greek gods, who didnt like all this happiness, sent his messenger to pandora ad her husband with a box. now the messenger told them not to open the box and keep it in their safe keeping. but pandora could not controll her curiosity and even after caution from her husband went ahead and opened the box. now the box was filled with all the evil virtues and as soon as it opened all of them escaped. pandora was instantly filled with fear, guilt and grief over her doing. the evil forces had already gripped her. to control further damage she closed the box. but her husband told that something is still left in the box and it will help them. it would rid all their miseries. it was HOPE. the other gods had concealed hope among all these virtues. pandora opened the box again, out came hope and all of pandoras problems started to vanish. so whenever evil tries to take over… the hope inside our hearts keeps us going and foils the atempt.

ha ha …. that was a very very modified and altered version of the actual story. actualy all these mythological stories are like open source softwares. you can modify them and republish them. but i know my software..err story wont have many buyers… but i hope(pun intended) that my msg has been put through.

…..In this life you could lead if you only believe
And in order to achieve what you need
You can never give up
You can never give up

And this hope
That keep me holding on
On and on
And this hope
That makes me carry on
On and on

shaggy’s song…. hope….

life……..

such a small word..but has a lot in it!!
a lot of happiness, joy, sorrow, excitement…………and many more things!
life is so unpredictable and so strange also!
some times things in life go as planned..some may even say that they mostly DON’T!

Life offers us good and bad times!!
dont we feel that good times pass fast and bad times dont pass!!!!!
we even get frustrated and sad when this happens!
but then we mostly calm our selves down by saying to our selves , ‘ this might be what life has to offer!!! ‘

never expect life to go as u want it to go!!
life may give u much more than ur expectation and at times maybe much less!!
and if we lose hope, then we cannot survive further!

we may say that ‘ it is easier said than done!!’
but still if we want to we can!!!
and that applies for all!!

START BY DOING WHAT IS NECESSARY,
THEN WHAT’S POSSIBLE
& SUDDENLY YOU WILL FIND, YOUR DOING
THE IMPOSSIBLE!!!!
