The Dwitiya Effect

All the reality shows these days end and then within a few months return to the TV screens.
At least wait for 10-12 months. The show loses all its charm.

Take for example, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. I used to really like the show. But then came The Great Indian Laughter Challenge “Dwitya”. They’ve actually ruined it. Just started the second edition of the show within 2 months time. Hardly anybody sees it now. The contestants suck big time & the jokes actually make you wanna cry.

Same thing goes for Indian Idol. Hardly six months had gone by since the first Indian Idol ended, they started Indian Idol 2. Result - crappy singers. OK, some people still see it but its not entertaining anymore. I’d rather watch some silly “Saas-Bahu Nautanki” than Indian Idol 2.

KBC on the other hand retained the magic it had when it was first aired. The reason for that was that the producers had actually waited a long time before bringing the show back on.

The “dwitiya” formula does not hold good anymore.

well…it depends on the show! in soaps like one tree hill and desperate housewives we can’t wait for the next season to start and it doesn’t lose it’s magic but ya, most indian shows are crap! i never liked indian idol in the firls place! only singers with melodious filmy voices are chosen. what happened to alternate?? but ya, some of the sheen does get washed off in the second season!

Successive seasons of most soap operas get better… even the indian ones get more interesting.

Its the reality shows that suck.

i think the producers should definitely give a break in between seasons for about 2-3 months. it builds the excitement !! :-D too much too soon doesn’t hold any appeal for me, maybe it’s just dumb superstition but i think when too many good things are happening, somehting bad’s gonna happen real soon. ya, i know, i’m getting over-serious coz this is in context to t.v. shows, for heaven’s sake !! :D but, ya, whatever, just wanted to voice my thoughts … :-)
