I want to be… [ June 15th, 2007 ] Posted in » Feelings / Emotions

Ever since we’re kids, we have a blurred and hazy picture of what we want to be, or do, when we grow up. And I’m not talking just about college, careers, etc. I’m talking about ‘we’ as people. I always thought that with my upbringing I’d be this prim and proper girl who always has to please her parents and can do no wrong. The good kid who gets good marks and stays away from the wild crowd. A doctor maybe…to ‘help people who are suffering’. Good grades, good college, good friends..selfless and sacrificing life, with my ‘perfect love’ besides me who is moulded for me and we all will just live happily ever after..

Well that turned out to be utter bullshit. Yes, perceptions do change as you grow up…your morals change, values change, outlook changes..but to such an extent? Things which you were so staunchly against, things which were against your principles, things which you resolved never to do in your lifetime, become so mundane and ordinary. I thought people who take drugs are ‘bad people’ and now some of my best friends smoke up all the time. I thought coming first in class was the be all and end all of my existence…and now…well, I would not like to comment on my scores.. Lol. I’m not questioning myself. Neither am I wondering what went wrong with me…I don’t think anything did. I guess this is just part of growing up. I was just looking into some old slam books today, and I saw what I used to be like..even 1 year ago! College sure does change people.

I wanted to be and do so many things as a kid. I wanted the world at my feet. I was to be pious, religious and a good kid. I just kept wanting, dreaming, hoping….but things have turned out so differently. At the end of the day, all I can say is, I’m so happy I am what I am right now, it’s hard to imagine. Atleast I am me and not what everyone wanted me to be, or a stupid idealistic picture I painted of myself in my head.. I love the paths I have chosen, the paths I have been forced to choose (due to lack of choice :D ), and the way ahead. It’s ok if you’re not what you always wanted to be, as a person, or as in a profession, or anything. At the end of the day…whatever makes you happy.

Oh, and by the way, Rahul change my blog please. It’s not the old one, it’s now www.ataxia.wordpress.com

Thanks. :)

iPod Phones: Coming soon?!

An Australian tech news site says iPod phones might soon be a reality! We all love the iPod and a one with phone features would be a rocking combo! Insiders at Taiwanese phone maker BenQ say that Apple procurement executives have been talking to various Taiwanese phone makers during the past few months in an effort to cut a manufacturing deal on an iPod Phone.
Currently Motrola is a leader in selling music phones with Nokia and Sony Ericcson catching up very quickly. Analysts believe that if Apple does come out with a music-playing cell phone, it will likely have the biggest impact on Motorola, the leading cell phone maker in the U.S. “Even a modest showing for an Apple multimedia cellphone could put a dent in Motorola’s profits,” Barron’s says. “If Apple were to grab just 1% of the 900 million phones expected to be sold world.

Start Talking!

OK… I just saw this advertisement on television about AIDS awareness.

A mother practicing about how to speak to her teenaged daughter about AIDS. I seriously found the AD pretty cool. The message was clear - “Parents must talk to their wards about sex, AIDS etc.”.

Tayari kar lo… baat to karni hi padegi.

I fully agree with them. Parents must talk to their children & discuss such topics with them openly. Its high time. Earlier there was no sex-education in schools but from what I have heard sex-education is being made compulsary in all CBSE Affiliated Schools from the coming session for classes 9th to 12th. Good!

In class eleventh, after the school prize distribution ceremony & induction of the new school cabinet (yes I was a part of it!) the chairman of the school board called the students of classes 11th & 12th in the hall. He asked about the problems we faced & wanted our feedback & suggestions. People talked about the founder (ARJUN!!), about having pay-phones in school, better canteen etc. But I wanted to ask something different, not the typical cliche stuff.

So what actually did I ask. Well the DPS Scandal had just surfaced then. So I stood up, in front of the chairman, the school principal, the teachers, the students & asked what they least expected.

Sir, India has the highest number of AIDS patients & recently we have come to know about the DPS Scandal. So when will Bhavan start offering sex-education to its students?

I have actually forgotten the exact words but they were more or less the same. No one actually supported me. Not even a single child. Not a single teacher. Why? I don’t fuckin know! Some children even told me later that I was a fool to have asked such a question in front of everbody. But I actually didn’t care. The chairman didn’t quite have an answer. He just said that in his times teenagers didn’t know about sex (WTF!! Stop lying old man!) & the authorities are working to arrange a counselor.

Now I don’t wanna blow my own trumpet here but I actually love telling this story :D. Its sad that none of my juniors know bout it!

Guys pick fights, try & act like bullies in schools just to show that they have guts. They make fun of teachers n all. OK even I made fun of some teachers but in my entire school life, I have never fought. Sounds strange. But its true. I have fought but they were never severe fights. I have friends & loads of them. Even some of my worst enemies have turned friends. Kofi Annan, get aside… Rahul’s coming! Now guys might say there’s nothing gutsy in that… then go ahead try & do the same & then reply! ;)

Man… I can seriously go off topic.

Bottom line… Parents need to talk to their kids bout sex n stuff & I’m too gutsy… admit it people!! :P

What is wrong with you?

Divya’s last post was a refresher. Now back to some serious stuff.

I recently read this post The End of Innocence on Harry’s blog & it sure did enrage me.

I have seen many so-called “MMS SCANDALS” break… Mallika Sherawat, Sania Mirza, Preity Zinta and so on. The list is endless. But these were all fake & hardly dented the reputation of the concerned people.

The injury occurs when this sort of stuff happens to normal people, someone from amongst us, one of our friends, a member of our family… anyone. As has been said by the others, it hardly affects the guys who make & “break” (circulate) these short porn clips involving their friends, girlfriends, neighbours… etc. The whole blame is put on the girl. Her life is ruined.

Our society has double standards. Just last week, when I was preparing for my Physical Education exam, there was this paragraph in our books :

…society has double standards. Having Pre-Marital sex is considered a sign of a complete man. But if a woman does the same, she is considered characterless. We are not advocating Pre-Marital sex…

We were all laughing & making fun of our teacher who has written the book. But if you analyze it closely, the man is so very right. We are all a bunch of hypocrites. Yes - you, me & everybody. We all might try & present ourselves to be in favour of women equality & all but from the inside we are no different from those BAJANG DAL activists. Why? Because when such scandals break, no one actually sympathises with the girl. Everyone’s first reaction is that the girl must’ve been a slut.

This is totally insane! Total nonsense. On one hand we call ourselves educated & modern but we are worse than those so-called backward people living in the villages. This thing is not just prevalent in India but the whole Indian Sub-Continent. India is just better than the rest.

We can keep saying that the West is destroying our culture. But the fact is the West has nothing to do with what is going on. I agree the world is a global village. Actions of the people of one nation affect the citizens of other nations. But if we ape the west, make such clips & circulate them, then why can’t we copy them and actually make the country more safe for women? They have their share of Rapes & Molestations but justice is given to women. What does our Justice System do… nothing! Absolutely nothing.

Take the case of the woman who was raped by her father-in-law. Did she get justice? No. And what about the Delhi University student who was raped. These cases had the backing of the media, still they got no justice. Imagine the plight of the normal woman. She can just contemplate of committing suicide in such situations. There is no way out for her. Neither the society nor the state will help her.

What is wrong with you boys? What pleasure do you queers derive from such actions? I’m not saying the girls are not responsible but the fact that they suffer more is what bothers me. Why not give the guy a good spanking too?

Girls, be firm! Please don’t give your boyfriend the consent to shoot your private moments. Even husbands leak such clips of their wives… you can’t expect your boyfriends to be truly faithful & loyal. Stay alert & stay out of trouble.

What is wrong with our society?

We call ourselves the I.T. superpower, the next superpower of the world. Dream on!!

improving.

Gutsy Stuff! Nah…!

Sony Entertainment Television has just started another reality show… Fear Factor India.
I am not sure if it will turn out to be a success or not but what I know is that I’m never gonna watch that sucky show again!!

The original Fear Factor which was & still is aired on AXN which is another channel owned by Sony, is simply outstanding.

The host ineracts with the contestants, the contestants interact amongst themselves. They try to psyche out each other… they play the game like it should be played.

But the Indian version spoils the fun. Firstly, Mukul Dev hosts the show. Why… Why? Has the Sony Management losts its mind? Out of all poeple… out of India’s 1 billion population, they had to pick Mukul Dev!! He simply sucks. He is just so mechanical.

I saw the first episode (REPEAT TELECAST). It was awful. None of the contestants interected with each other. Mukul Dev looked like just another person. Further, he has a pathetic screen presence. He looks like he himself is gonna puke!!

Jo Darr Gaya Samjho Marr Gaya“. Fine, the punchline is good, but the total package… it sucks!

And before I end this post, I just wanna ask you all - “What is the gutsiest thing you’ve ever done?

Hold on people!

People People People!!

S T O P!

What are you guys doing?

This blog is not your personal diary!!

You don’t blog about what you had for breakfast or why your dad scolded you. You blog about some topic. Something interesting. Technology, news, thoughts, recipies… basically anything other than creating two-three posts just for wishing each other. If you can’t contribute right now, reply and tell us. We’ll remove your account temporarily & when you’re ready we’ll activate it again.

Please, we at TMP don’t wish to be rude but when we saw things not going the way we wanted them to, we had to take some action.

You want personal blog, check Blogger. Its a great tool. Post about what you had for dinner there. Not here.

Write something that interests the readers. Something that makes the readers think & reply. If you can’t, then sorry, you will have to leave.

Fine examples of proper blogging are by Rahul & Harry. Divya has been good too but sometimes she needs to be told. Jaskiran… well we can excuse her because it was her first post. Arjun… he’s already said he’ll join us later.

There is no specific genre you must stick to. Anything goes. Even personal stuff which is thought provoking will do.

But please… “NO SEPERATE POSTS FOR HAPPY BIRTHDAYS & WHAT YOU DID TODAY or THATS IT I DON’T HAVE TIME TO WRITE ANYMORE WILL WRITE LATER…”

Please…
